Chinese New Gear

I promise this is the last event that I will talk about (for at least another week... cause there are still more to come - Adelaide has a sweet one coming!)

Chinese New Gear
Organised by the man behind BNE NIGHT POLO.  This is gunna rock!

February 27th.  Meet at the Wheel of Brisbane, Southbank.

I can't remember what we are throwing in as prizes... but rest assured it will be good!

GEAR shop Brisbane's 1st Birthday!

Seeing as we are on a roll... here is one more.

This time for Brisbanites:

GEAR shop Brisbane's 1st Birthday!
Also on the 6th of February.  An alleycat & an after party.

Erik knows how to create a good time!  So come along!

and no... GEAR brisbane, and BOgear are not the same company!

St Ali's Alleycat. Melbourne!

I wasn't kidding when I said there were heaps of events coming up!

Check this one out:

St Ali's Alleycat
A full weekend of events, with Saturday night being an alleycat.
Melbourne.  Saturday, 6th February.  $5 entry.

The organisers have heaps of prizes up their sleeves, but most of them aren't standard stuff that you could buy!  We're involved (duh!) and are supplying some of our stuff, just not how you would expect it!

Pouches, rolls, cases, bags... but not as you are used to!  (sneaky photos to come!)

BE THERE!

Super Mario Track

Lots and lots of fantastic events coming up.  And they are not all in Brisbane for once!

I know this only is short notice... but...

Super Mario Track
This weekend!  Sydney.  $5 Entry.

Be there... heaps of prizes, but most notably a set of Strap Ons (woot!) and Odyssey Pedals (thanks to Hell on Wheels for this one!)

FREE Night Polo

Night polo this Wednesday night, 20/1/10.  This time for free.  Thats right... free!  Our money stockpile from the previous night games now allow us one free game!

So, never played before and want to give it a go?  Drop down to the tennis courts beside the public pool in Musgrave Park, West End, Brisbane.  6pm for a 6.30 start!

I have also been holding off on this photo for a while... but thought seeing as we are talking about polo, now is as good a time as ever:

Yes, that is team Brisbane representing down in Melbourne.  And yes, that does happen to be two Brisbane players mid-crash (into each other).  The skill of those two idiots is summed up perfectly in this photo.  And yes, one does happen to be me!

Big thanks to Roland Cox for capturing and sharing this moment.  Nice photo mate!

Papermunky V2

We are deep in the process of updating our bags, and have finally finished redesigning the Papermunky...

Enter Papermunky V2:

As with all our V2 updates, the Papermunky V2 has a more symmetrical shape which gives more usable internal volume, while also reducing fabric wastage.

The Papermunky V2 is slightly smaller than its predecessor, but doesn't lose out on usable internal volume.  It features a dedicated pen pocket, quick access D-lock sleeve, an external a4 pocket, as well as two internal pockets.  The liner is crafted from reclaimed billboards, and is weatherproof!  Strap angles have changed to allow the bag to sit flatter across your back, which results in a slightly more comfortable feel.

This particular bag has already been claimed, but stay tuned as we have a small batch of 8 arriving late next week!  Our website is in need of a serious overhaul, but when it is finally updated you will be able to find all of the information here.

Hot off the machine!

Things have been busy here in the BOcamp.  We have upped production and are trying to build a stockpile of every sized bag and colour.  This will be the first post of many, but check out what rolled off the sewing machine table this week...

10 Babycandy's

I will catalogue these early next week and put them up on the available section on our website.  You better be quick though, as these are going faster than Mrs Antmandan's vegan muffins after polo...

You may also notice that we have a new colour available... Sky blue!  This material is very light coloured, and slightly see through.  Very pastel-ey, and dare I say... *ahem* cute!

Also hot off the machine are a pile of Love Handles...  We don't have a page on our site dedicated to this just yet, but check out a previous post of ours detailing the hip pouch!

There were 17 of these... 4 have already sold!

These will also be documented early next week, and up on our available page!

Elephantitus V2

Seeing as we are in the mood for showing off new products, I thought I would tease you all with a shot of the new Elephantitus V2.  It is still being prodded, tweaked and adjusted, but rest assured it will be bigger, badder, and better than before.

The Elephantitus is also symmetrical, features multiple clipping points, a gazillion pockets; drink bottle (shh... beer) pocket, secret pocket, pen pockets... the list of pockets is endless, as well as a removable second shoulder strap to distribute the load.  All the straps are removable which will also enable the bag to be dual swing. It also means you can wash your padding to remove the funk.  There are also base compression straps, shoulder and hip stabilisers, as well as our quick access D-lock pocket.

Interested?  Well we need Abuser Team members to test this bag.  So if you are part of the Abuser Team, let us know if you are interested in running one!  It will be yours to keep, but it wont be free.

Reason for the V2 update?  More room baby, more room!  Oh, and of course to reduce wastage!

Sindrome V2

This has been a while in the works (and on the backs of a select few), but finally we have time to officially release details about Sindrome V2.  As you probably are well aware, the original Sindrome is a large bag designed to swallow most of your everyday kit while also feasibly handling a slab of beer.  This original design was asymmetrical which was intended to carry weight more evenly across your back.

The down side to this asymmetrical shape was the reduced interior space, coupled with excess fabric wastage.  Not being content to rest on our laurels we investigated ways to keep the Sindrome similar shape and size while also reducing fabric wastage.

This is what we have come up with:

The Sindrome V2 is symmetrical, which results in more usable interior space.  It also means that when the pattern is laid out onto the fabric there is less wastage (less material goes into the bin, which is always a bonus!)

Under the main flap we have an even larger front expandable pocket.  This pocket is sized large enough to fit 13 inch laptops as well as a4 folders.  The pocket is pleated, and can expand to carry two Yellow Pages phone books comfortably.

You will probably also note a pile of webbing straps.  These are placed to allow bulky items to be strapped on.  For example two rows of webbing are on the front pocket flap.  The space in between is intended for poster tubes or polo mallets.

On the right hand side is some seatbelt webbing which secures our popular d-lock sleeve.  This sleeve enables you to chuck in your d-lock while on the move without having to remove the bag from your back.  The placement of this sleeve doesn't impinge on the available space in either the bag or the front pocket.

Under the outer pocket flap we have two sets of pen holders.  There is also a wallet/keys/sunglasses pocket.

On the back of the bag you will also note a major design change.  We have added stabiliser straps to both the shoulder as well as the hip.  What this means is that a full bag will no longer "round out" and become like a barrel.  Instead you adjust both the hip and shoulder stabilisers to create a flatter back.  This also helps to increase the usable interior volume of the bag by not pulling the main strap away from your body.

When the bag is empty, tighten the two stabiliser straps and the bag will now wrap around your body.

This new system is designed for you to 'set and forget' about your main 50mm strap, and instead adjust the hip/shoulder stabilisers according to your load size.

You will also note that attached to the base of the stabiliser straps are two d-rings.  Slide the ends of the stabiliser webbing through this so they don't flap around in the breeze.  Alternatively attach your keys here for quick access.

I should also note that the main shoulder strap padding has been removed from all these images to present a clearer view.  Rest assured, the Sindrome will still come with padding which distributes the load across a greater surface area!

Oh, and one other feature I forgot to mention is that the Sindrome V2 also features a secret pocket!

The Sindrome V2 is available now for $180, with photographs and updates to our website scheduled soon.  (We haven't done these updates yet as the bags sell faster than we can make them!)

Backyard Blam

Will you happen to be in Portland, Oregon, USA on February 5th & 6th?  How about nearby?  If so, get your sweet behind down to this event:

Backyard Blam... organised by Amanda Sundvor from 21st Ave Bikes
This is an event not to be missed; featuring everything on two wheels, not just fixed specific, or DH specific, or road specific.  Don't believe me?  Then here is an explanation of the event in Amanda's own words:

Backyard blam... sprints, fixed gear trick comp, and a bike art show.  The 5th will be a DH Slalom, something with the pump track [check out last years pump track!], and a brutal game called dead goat or carcass keepaway [BOnote: We have no idea what this is, but it does sound brutal!].  The Backyard Blam from last year consisted of open sprints, a pump track time trial, quickstop, and for the more advanced crowd, pump track p-i-g.  Since then we have made the pump track bigger, better, and we added a wall ride which I am pretty sure falls under 'better', but it is worth mentioning.

Want to find out more about this event?  Then head over to their dedicated blog.  Once there, check out what we donated... a green Babycandy, and a fresh set of Strap Ons!  Let the good times roll!
